Overview

Velum ("the App") is developed and maintained by LLCloud Apps ("we", "us", "our"). The App is an encrypted vault for photos, videos and files on Android. This policy explains what the App accesses, what leaves your device, and your rights.

The short version

Your vault is encrypted on your phone and never sent to us. We cannot see, recover or decrypt what is in it. There is no account and no server holding your content. Velum does not sell your data and shows no ads.

How each feature handles your data

Vault contents

Photos, videos, files and notes, together with their names, dates, thumbnails and albums, are encrypted on the device before they are stored. They are never sent to us. We cannot see them, recover them or decrypt them, and there is no account or server that holds them.

Importing and removing originals

Velum only reaches the photos, videos and files you pick in Android's own system picker. It has no other access to your gallery or storage. An original is deleted only if you agree to it in Android's own confirmation dialog.

Private camera

The camera and microphone are used only while you have the private camera open. Photos and videos taken with it go straight into the vault, encrypted, and never to your gallery.

Backup and restore

Backups go only to a folder you choose, through Android's storage access framework. What is copied is already encrypted: blocks and key files with no names or thumbnails. If you pick a folder from a cloud provider, that provider stores the encrypted files under its own terms. We have no access to them.

Notifications

Used for a reminder before a free trial ends and for backup alerts.

Diagnostics

Only if you tap "Get help" and choose to send an email. The email contains your device model, Android version, Velum's settings and a timeline of app events (opened, locked, imported). It never contains file names, counts or anything about your vaults. You review it before you send it.

Data we collect

The App collects a small amount of technical data through the services below. It never contains anything from your vaults.

  • Usage analytics (Google Firebase Analytics): usage events such as onboarding steps, whether an import succeeded, paywall views, purchases and settings changed, along with device model, Android version, app version and country. It never receives file names, photo contents, item counts, vault counts or anything that differs between vaults. The advertising ID is not collected, and the permission for it is removed from the App. Collection is off in debug builds.
  • Crash reports (Sentry, EU region, Germany): if the App crashes or freezes, a technical report with the stack trace, device model, OS version and app version is sent so we can fix it. It contains no vault content.
  • Purchases (Google Play Billing and RevenueCat): Velum Pro, a one-time purchase, is processed by Google Play. RevenueCat receives the purchase token and an anonymous app user ID to verify and restore Pro. We never see your payment details.

All data sent by the App is encrypted in transit. We do not sell your data or share it with anyone for their own use. We do not use advertising identifiers, advertising SDKs, or any form of tracking across apps. The App shows no ads.

Permissions

  • Camera and microphone: only when you open the private camera, for photos and videos that go straight into the vault.
  • Notifications: the trial reminder and backup alerts.
  • Internet: analytics, crash reports and purchases.

Velum has no access to your gallery or storage beyond what you pick in the system picker, and originals are deleted only through Android's own confirmation dialog.

Third-party services

Data retention and deletion

Everything Velum stores lives on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data. Backups live wherever you put them, and you delete them there. Analytics and crash data are retained by Google and Sentry under their own retention periods. To have that data deleted, email us at the address below.

Children

The App is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

We will update this page when the policy changes and update the date at the top.
