Overview

AppVolume ("the App") is developed and maintained by LL Cloud Development & Operations ("we", "us", "our"). The App gives each app on your phone its own volume level. This policy explains what the App accesses, what leaves your device, and your rights.

The short version

AppVolume never captures, records, stores or transmits audio. It only turns a level up or down. The list of apps playing on your phone and the levels you set stay on your phone. The App has no account, shows no ads and uses no advertising ID.

How each part handles your data

Audio

AppVolume attaches a volume effect to other apps' playback. The effect changes how loud that playback is, and nothing else. The App does not request the microphone permission, and it never listens to, captures, records, stores or transmits any audio, yours or another app's.

Apps that are playing

To apply your levels, AppVolume asks the system which apps are currently playing audio. It reads their package names and audio session IDs, on the device, and uses them to attach the right level to the right app and to show which apps are playing in the mixer. That list is not sent anywhere.

List of installed apps

AppVolume reads which apps with a launcher icon are installed, so you can pick an app in the mixer and so a playing app can be shown by name and icon. The list stays on the device.

One-time setup and Wireless debugging

Android only lets its own developer tools grant the one permission AppVolume needs to see which apps are playing. In setup, the App pairs once with your phone's own Wireless debugging, using the six-digit code Android shows you, and grants itself that permission. The pairing happens entirely on the phone over the loopback interface, so nothing leaves the phone, and the pairing key never leaves the device. You can turn Wireless debugging off again afterwards. Shizuku or root can be used instead if your phone already has them.

Your levels and settings

The level, mute, boost and balance you set for each app, and your theme, are stored on the phone and applied there.

Notifications

Used for the pairing code field during setup and for the mixer notification with its mute, down and up buttons.

Data we collect

The App collects a small amount of technical data through the services below, tied to a random per-install identifier rather than to you. It never contains audio, and it never contains the list of apps on your phone or the apps you adjusted.

  • Usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase): event-only product analytics. These are onboarding and setup events such as "setup completed" or "pairing failed" and counts of which features are used, with the phone model, Android version, app version and country. We use them to see where setup fails.
  • Crash reports (Sentry, hosted in the EU): crashes and freezes only. If the App crashes or stops responding, a technical report with the stack trace, device model, Android version and app version is sent so we can fix it.
  • Purchases (Google Play Billing through RevenueCat): the Pro purchase is processed entirely by Google Play. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID to verify and restore the purchase. We never see your payment details.

Diagnostics you send us. If you choose to email diagnostics from the App, your email app opens with a report you can read before sending: device information, the state of setup, the package names of the apps you adjusted and a timeline of app events. It contains no audio. Nothing is sent unless you send it.

We do not use advertising identifiers, advertising SDKs, or any form of tracking across apps. The App shows no ads and has no account to sign in to.

Third-party services

Backup

If Android backup is on for your phone, your per-app levels and settings are included in your Google account backup so a new phone keeps them. That backup is Google's, encrypted, and never reaches us. The pairing key and the diagnostics timeline are excluded. The setup permission cannot be backed up, so a new phone runs setup once.

Data retention and deletion

Your levels and settings live on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data. Analytics and crash data are retained by the services above under their own retention periods and are not linked to your identity. To have any data deleted, contact us at the address below.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We will update this page when the policy changes and update the date at the top.
