Keebi vs Grammarly Keyboard on iPhone: Fix Typos, Keep Your Words

By the llcloud team 5 min read

The short answer

Choose Keebi for everyday typing. It fixes typos on your iPhone, never swaps a real word for another one, and works fully without Full Access or an account. Grammarly says its keyboard needs Full Access because it checks your text on its servers.

Keebi is the keyboard to pick if you want typo fixes that stay on your iPhone. It fixes clear typos, never replaces a real word, undoes any fix in one tap, and needs no Full Access and no account. Grammarly's help center says its keyboard needs Full Access to connect to the internet, because it checks your text on its servers, and without it the keyboard cannot check anything.

Grammarly is a writing assistant, and its iPhone app adds a keyboard that brings its suggestions into every app. Keebi is a keyboard with a smaller job done carefully: fix your typos and leave the words you meant alone. This comparison is as of October 2026 and uses Grammarly's App Store listing and its help center for its facts.

Where is your typing checked?

This is the biggest difference between the two. Grammarly's help center says its keyboard needs Full Access "in order to connect to the internet", because Grammarly uses "powerful servers to check your text and provide suggestions". Without Full Access, it says, you can still type, but Grammarly cannot check your text. It also says the keyboard checks only what you type while using it, and ignores passwords and card numbers on a best-effort basis. Its App Store privacy label lists emails or text messages among the data collected, not linked to you, and lists contact info, identifiers and usage data as data that may be used to track you.

Keebi does all of its correcting on your iPhone. The keyboard has no analytics and no crash reporting, and without Full Access iOS does not even let it reach the network. With Full Access, the only thing it sends is your GIF search words, to GIPHY. Our guide to adding a keyboard on iPhone explains what Full Access allows, and the Keebi privacy policy lists exactly what the app sends.

Do you need a writing assistant or a keyboard that keeps your words?

Grammarly's keyboard offers spelling, grammar and conciseness suggestions, tone detection, synonyms, and generative AI rewrites that adjust a message's length, fluency and tone. Some of those, such as tone transformations and clarity suggestions, are listed as Premium.

Most of what people type on a phone is short: a message, a search, a reply. The common frustration there is autocorrect changing a word you meant. Keebi is built for that. It fixes clear typos and never swaps a real word for another real word, so "we'll" stays we'll. Every fix waits in an undo chip, and once you undo one, Keebi keeps that word as typed. It never edits a word you already passed, so nothing changes when you hit send. Our guide on stopping iPhone autocorrect changing words explains why keyboards make these swaps.

When you do want a message polished, Keebi has a Rewrite button. It proofreads spelling and grammar for free, and Pro adds friendlier, more professional, shorter, longer, rephrased and emoji versions. The difference from Grammarly is where it runs: Keebi uses Apple's on-device model, part of Apple Intelligence, so your text is not sent to a server. It works on iPhones and iPads with Apple Intelligence turned on, in the languages Apple supports.

What does Keebi have for everyday typing?

  • A real number row above the letters, on by default.
  • A search layout in Safari and other search fields, with no period beside the space bar.
  • 91 autocorrect languages and layouts for more than 120. Two at once are free, a third is Pro.
  • Swipe typing for free, with other guesses in the bar.
  • Emoji with search, and kaomoji, fancy fonts and GIFs in Pro.
  • Themes. Day, Night, Pure Black and Glass for free, and more themes, a theme editor and photo themes in Pro.
  • Clipboard history and text shortcuts in Pro. Clipboard history needs Full Access.
  • Rewrite with Apple Intelligence. Proofread for free, and with Pro make a message friendlier, more professional, shorter or longer, all on your iPhone.

What does each one cost?

Grammarly's App Store listing shows plans by the month, by the quarter and by the year, including cheaper mobile-only plans, for its premium features.

Keebi's free version has the whole autocorrect promise, with no ads and no account. Swipe typing is free too. Pro adds the extras, such as every theme, the theme editor and photo themes, other layouts and a third language, and comes by month, by year or once for life.

Why choose Keebi over Grammarly Keyboard?

  • Your typing is checked on your iPhone, not on a server.
  • No Full Access needed. Autocorrect, undo, themes and layouts all work with it off.
  • No account. Nothing to sign in to, nothing stored about you.
  • Your words stay your words. Real words are never replaced, and every fix undoes in one tap.
  • More autocorrect languages: 91, with layouts for more than 120.
  • Rewrites that stay on your iPhone. Keebi's Rewrite uses Apple's on-device model, not a server.
  • Pay once if you like. Pro by month, by year or once for life.

Questions

Why does Grammarly Keyboard need Full Access?

Grammarly's help center says its keyboard needs Full Access to connect to the internet, because Grammarly uses its servers to check your text and give suggestions. It adds that without Full Access you can still type, but Grammarly cannot check your text. Keebi checks typing on your iPhone and works completely without Full Access.

Does Grammarly Keyboard read my messages?

Grammarly says its keyboard checks only the text you type while using it, and that it ignores sensitive text such as passwords on a best-effort basis. Its App Store privacy label lists emails or text messages among the data it collects, as data not linked to you. Keebi's keyboard keeps your typing on your iPhone and has no analytics.

Does Keebi check grammar like Grammarly?

Yes, when you ask it to. As you type, Keebi only fixes clear typos: it corrects misspellings, handles contractions like dont, adds missing accents and never replaces a real word with another one. When you want more, its Rewrite button proofreads spelling and grammar for free, and Pro can make a message friendlier, more professional, shorter or longer. Rewrite needs Apple Intelligence and runs on Apple's on-device model, so unlike Grammarly your text is not checked on a server. Keebi does not suggest synonyms.

Do I need an account for Keebi?

No. Keebi has no account at all, so there is nothing to sign in to and nothing about you stored on a server. Your learned words, dictionary and settings live on your iPhone, and you can save them to a backup file yourself if you change phones.

How much does Keebi cost compared with Grammarly?

Keebi's autocorrect promise is free: one-tap undo, the number row, the search layout, two languages, emoji with search, swipe typing and proofreading. Pro adds themes, the theme editor, other layouts and more, by month, by year or once for life. Grammarly's App Store listing shows monthly, quarterly and annual plans for its premium features.
