Keebi vs Typewise on iPhone: Which Keyboard Fixes Fewer Words?

By the llcloud team 4 min read

The short answer

Choose Keebi. It keeps the layout you already know, never swaps a real word for another one, and undoes any fix in one tap for free. Typewise's App Store listings were last updated in April 2025, and its website says its consumer keyboard chapter closed in 2022.

Keebi is the better choice for most iPhone users. It fixes clear typos on a familiar layout, never replaces a real word, and undoes any fix in one tap on the free version. Like Typewise, it works without Full Access. Typewise asks you to learn a hexagon layout, puts undoing autocorrections in Pro, and its website now describes the company as an AI customer experience platform for businesses.

Typewise made its name with an unusual idea: replace the familiar rows of keys with hexagons. It also promised privacy, with a keyboard that works offline. Keebi shares that privacy promise but keeps the layout you already know, and puts its effort into autocorrect that keeps your words. This comparison is as of October 2026 and uses Typewise's App Store listings and website for its facts.

Is Typewise still developed?

Typewise's website says the company "started in 2019 as a consumer keyboard app, but that chapter closed in 2022", and that it is now "solely an AI customer experience platform for businesses". It still has two keyboards on the App Store: Typewise Custom Keyboard, free with a PRO upgrade, and Typewise Offline Keyboard, a paid app with PRO features included and no online features. As of October 2026 both list April 19, 2025 as their latest update, with the note "Improved stability".

A keyboard sits in every app you use, so updates matter: iOS changes how keyboards look and behave from version to version. Keebi needs iOS 17 or newer, runs on iPhone and iPad, and is maintained by the developer who answers its support email.

Hexagons or the layout you know?

Typewise's listing says its hexagon layout has keys that are 70% larger and claims four times fewer typos. It also uses swipe gestures on the keys: swipe up to capitalize, left to delete and right to restore. That means learning a new layout and new gestures before you type at full speed.

Keebi keeps your language's usual layout, so there is nothing to relearn. Numbers sit on a real row above the letters, on by default. It reduces wrong words a different way: it fixes clear typos and never replaces a real word with another real word, so "we'll" stays we'll. If you do hit the wrong key, the free slide to correct option, off by default, lets you slide onto the right one before you lift. Pro adds other layouts, such as Dvorak, Colemak and BÉPO.

How do they handle autocorrect mistakes?

Typewise's listing describes smart autocorrect that learns what you type, and names "Flick down to undo auto corrections" among its PRO features.

In Keebi, undoing is free and always one move away. Right after a fix, your word waits in an undo chip. Tap it, or press delete once, and it comes back, and Keebi keeps it as typed from then on. Keebi only changes the word you are typing and never goes back to edit an earlier one. Our guide on stopping iPhone autocorrect changing words explains why keyboards make these swaps.

How private is each keyboard?

Both keyboards work without Full Access. Typewise's listings say none of your typing data is transmitted to the cloud. The free app's description says the app itself uses basic anonymous usage tracking that offline mode turns off, and its App Store privacy label lists search history and usage data as data that may be used to track you.

Keebi's keyboard has no analytics and no crash reporting. Your typing, learned words and clipboard stay on your iPhone. With Full Access on, which is optional, the one thing it sends is your GIF search words, to GIPHY. There is no account. The Keebi privacy policy lists exactly what the app sends, and our guide to adding a keyboard on iPhone explains what Full Access allows.

Why choose Keebi over Typewise?

  • No new layout to learn. Your usual keys, plus a real number row.
  • Free one-tap undo for every fix, and real words are never replaced.
  • Actively maintained for current iOS versions on iPhone and iPad.
  • Private without Full Access, with no analytics in the keyboard and no account.
  • Two languages free, 91 with autocorrect and layouts for more than 120.
  • Rewrite on your iPhone. Proofread for free with Apple Intelligence, with more styles in Pro.
  • Themes and swipe typing for free, and a theme editor and photo themes in Pro, by month, by year or once for life.

Questions

Is Typewise still being developed?

As of October 2026, Typewise's website says it started in 2019 as a consumer keyboard app and that this chapter closed in 2022, and that it is now solely an AI customer experience platform for businesses. On the App Store, both Typewise keyboards list April 19, 2025 as their latest update. Keebi is actively developed and answered by its developer.

Does Typewise need Full Access?

No. Both Typewise listings say the keyboard does not require Full Access and that none of your typing data is transmitted to the cloud. Keebi works without Full Access too. Turning it on in Keebi is optional and adds clipboard history, GIFs, haptics and speak keys, and the only thing it sends is your GIF search words, to GIPHY.

Can I undo an autocorrection for free?

In Keebi, yes. Every fix shows in an undo chip right after it happens, and a tap or one press of delete brings your word back. Typewise's listing names "Flick down to undo auto corrections" among its PRO features. In Keebi, the undo and the rule that real words are never replaced are free for good.

Does Keebi use a normal keyboard layout?

Yes. Keebi uses the layout you already know for your language, such as QWERTY, QWERTZ or AZERTY, with a real number row above the letters. Pro adds other layouts like Dvorak, Colemak and BÉPO. Typewise uses its own hexagon key layout, which its listing says gives larger keys.

Which languages does Keebi support?

Keebi autocorrects 91 languages and has layouts for more than 120, including Arabic, Hindi and Thai, with Japanese, Korean and Chinese input. You can type in two languages at once for free, and a third with Pro. Typewise's listing says it offers more than 40 languages, with typing in several at once as a PRO feature.
